Camp Hope 3
Affordable Volunteer Housing for Everyone!

So, you want to come to Louisiana to volunteer?

Since Hurricane Katrina in 2005, it is estimated that over two million volunteers have come to the Gulf Coast to help out. Many churches and facilities opened up, providing housing for this outpouring of compassion. Today, Camp Hope has grown into an icon of support for volunteers providing public service in St. Bernard Parish and surrounding areas. Groups, individuals, families, and friends are invited to stay with us and enjoy the comforts, cuisine, and companionship of our unique volunteer culture.

The new Camp Hope 3 location has moved up to the north-western end of St. Bernard Parish and is under five miles from the historic French Quarter, a few miles from I-10, and walking distance to the beautiful Mississippi River. We offer over 35,000 sq. ft. of dormitory-style rooms including a large entertainment and dining hall, kitchen, laundry area, hot showers, and picnic and barbeque areas. Camp Hope has parking with plenty of room for buses to pick up and drop off volunteers. With over 300 beds in dormitory-style rooms, your group will be comfortable while working around St. Bernard Parish. Camp Hope has become one of the most sought-after alternative spring break locations. If necessary, we do have off-site overflow housing at a participating hotel just a short drive away, which still includes meals.

Our kitchen prepares healthy and delicious meals for your group, low in fat and sodium and abundant in Southern flavor. We are collaborating with local, well-known chefs from New Orleans to create a menu that will make you think they're in our kitchen, which may actually happen. If you appreciate good food, you'll know Camp Hope cuisine has set a new standard.

Your well-being is a concern for us and St. Bernard Parish has a reputation for exceptional public safety. The camp is located one block from the Louisiana National Guard's historic Jackson Barracks. You can feel safe walking to nearby restaurants, stores, or the bus stop that takes you to the French Quarter, museums, tours, and public places of interest throughout our parish and in the city of New Orleans.

Accommodation rates at Camp Hope are reasonable at only $25 per person, per night. Rate includes three meals a day and access to all Camp Hope activities and programs.  (The same rate applies to the overflow housing.) The campus provides ADA access and groups with minors are welcome, with some exceptions.  See note below.
